Former UFC fighter who once competed in Las Vegas, but was jailed later for selling heroin to criminal gangs has now returned behind bars.
Paul Kelly, a fighter from Las Vegas, fought in the Mandalay Bay Hotel and mingled with stars of the fighting game as well as show business.
Kelly’s career peaked when he fought the likes of Dennis Silver, Matt Veach Jacob Volkmann TJ O’Brien, and Donnald “Cowboy” Cerrone.
Kelly, who fought alongside Michael Bisping as well as A Team star Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, sold himself to the public as a fearless scrapper hailing from the mean streets in Liverpool.
After losing to Jackson Kelly, Kelly’s career declined.
After his UFC career, Kelly was sucked into Liverpool’s burgeoning gangland and jailed for selling high-quality heroin.
Kelly, 38, has returned to his apartment after a video of him that was rated X on social media. The video showed him having sex in an apartment with two women.
Since then, the shocking video that featured explicit sex act has been removed from internet.
The police and probation service confirmed Kelly’s recall to prison due to his violation of the conditions of his license.
Kelly’s return has not been explained by the authorities.
After a 2013 trial, the former welterweight champion was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
The court heard that Kelly and childhood friend Christopher McGirr were supplying heroin to criminals around the Kirkby district of the city.
The men were the focus of a massive surveillance operation by the police that targeted a violent street gang called the Croxteth Young Guns.
The CYG used military grade grenades, destroyed homes and shot at rivals on the street.
In a devastating attack, the gang burned down a house while a young mother slept upstairs with her child. The family was saved by neighbours.
The CYG gang spent over 100 years in prison. Kelly began dealing drugs after his UFC contract ended due to a series of losses.
Mark Brown, the judge who jailed the former fighter, said: “You and Mr McGirr were in business together supplying heroin to others dealers.”
You are a person who has traveled widely for MMA, and would therefore have contacts abroad.
The seizures of large quantities of heroin imported from abroad is significant.
You decided to supply class A drugs after your contract with UFC ended.
You obviously lived a high-life and thought that selling heroin was a quick way to earn money.
Kelly was released on licence from prison before lockdown, and opened a health food restaurant in the Bootle district of the city.
He told The Liverpool Echo that his goal was to change his life and achieve financial success.
Former criminal Darren Gee who runs a popular social network channel focused on gangs broke the news of Kelly’s return to prison.
A police spokesperson told The Sun that Paul Kelly (38), had been arrested for a prison recall. Kelly, 38, of Stanley Road in Bootle was arrested on Wednesday, 22 February, by Bootle police officers after he violated the terms of his license.
The Probation Service spokeswoman said: “Protecting public safety is our top priority. We do not hesitate when offenders violate the conditions of their release.”
