After beating Ciryl Ganes at UFC 285, JON JONES is now the UFC’s pound-for -pound leader.
The heavyweight champion smothered his opponent in just two minutes.
Jones has topped the UFC men’s pound for pound rankings after a resounding victory in his return to the octagon following three years away.
Jones, 35 years old, has moved up nine places, surpassing Kamaru Usman and Brit Leon Edwards.
Jones spent most of his career near or at the top of the pound for pound rankings. He could look to reestablish dominance by facing Stipe Miocic in.
Alexander Volkanovski, the previous P4P king, has risen to the top after winning Featherweight Championship in 2020 and defending that title four times from 2022-2022.
Max Holloway was ranked 15th, and he won the title from him. He lost to Islam Makhachev in his last match.
Makhachev’s unanimous victory was not enough for him to surpass Volkanovski on the P4P ranking – he is one position behind the Australian, who sits third.
Other big names include Usman and Adesanya, two powerhouses.
Both teams are ranked fifth and sixth, respectively. Recent losses have prevented them from moving up the rankings.
Edwards, a Birmingham-based fighter , ended Usman’s 19-fight winning streak in August when he landed a head kick that KOed the former welterweight champ.
Edwards is now in fourth position, above the Nigerian, while Alex Pereira and Aljamain Sterling are also among the top 10. Charles Oliveira, Brandon Moreno, Alex Pereira, Aljamain sterling, Charles Oliveira, and Brandon Moreno complete the top ten.
Dustin Poirier is ranked 12th after beating Michael Chandler at UFC 281.
His pedigree rose after a series of victories over Conor McGregor.
The Notorious is surprisingly not included in the pound for pound rankings, having retired from the sport since August 2021.
He has recovered from a broken leg he suffered in a loss to Poirier. He could face Chandler later this year.
