The first Aston Martin DB12 to be signed by two Formula One stars was sold at an eye-watering price.
The American Foundation for Aids Research’s (Amfar) gala in Cannes saw a supercar auctioned for PS1.3million.
The car will be the first Aston Martin DB12 to be owned by a Formula One driver.
The first Super Tourer was hand-delivered to a client, the emerald-green sportscar made its debut at Cannes.
At the gala, Queen Latifah and Rebel Wilson attended.
The auction was hosted and facilitated by American actors James Marsden and Eva Longoria who displayed the unique car, before exceeding auction estimates to raise over one million dollars for the Aids charity.
The car is adorned with special touches to mark Aston Martin’s 110th Anniversary. These were curated by Aston Martin’s bespoke service.
Kevin Robert Frost said that he is “extremely grateful” to Amfar for this donation, as the proceeds will “be an important boost” in research efforts against Aids.
He said: “We are extremely grateful to Aston Martin for their generous donation this spectacular DB12 car for our live auction.
The auction proceeds from this incredible sportscar will be a major boost for our efforts to find a cure to HIV.
Lawrence Stroll said that Aston Martin’s executive chairman was “thrilled to support Amfar”.
He said, “Aston Martin was thrilled to support the Amfar Gala Cannes.”
The incredible amount raised by this charity auction not only demonstrates the generosity of amfAR attendees but also the excitement surrounding the new DB12, and its unique ultra-luxury features and high performance that take it above the GT category.
