DASHCAM footage shows a car struggling to join an motorway after a slip-road in front of a truck has divided opinions – with viewers criticizing both drivers.
The video, shot from the lorry’s cab, shows that the white car fails to merge onto motorway despite an extended run-in. It eventually runs out of slip roads and is forced to drive on the Hard Shoulder.
The caption of the video reads “How many miles do you need to travel before joining traffic?” The caption of the video reads “How many miles do you need to join the traffic?
Some viewers pointed out that the lorry seems to be speeding up and not allowing the car to merge on to the motorway.
Many people believe in the comments that the lorry did not slow down because it was unsure of how to perform the maneuver.
The white car may not have put on its indicator, and the lorry might not have been aware that it was trying to enter the motorway.
According to the Highway Code, “When joining the motorway you will usually approach it either from a road that is on your left (a sliproad) or an adjacent motorway.
“You should give the right of way to the traffic already on motorways, and check the traffic on motorways. You can then adjust your speed so that you fit into the traffic flow safely in the left-hand lanes.
Use the hard shoulder or do not cross the solid white lines separating lanes.
Stay on the slip road, if the extra lane continues on the motorway.
