Going Out in Style: Conor McGregor Returns, ‘Getting Back to His Roots’ with a Change of Style After ‘Listening to UFC Fans’.

CONOR McGREGOR has changed his fighting style to “get back to his roots”, ahead of his UFC comeback, after “listening” to the fans.

McGregor will face Michael Chandler for his comeback fightafter the two coaches on The Ultimate Fighter finish their coaching.

The Irishman brought in former UFC welterweight champ Stephen Thompson to train his group.

Thompson, a karate expert, suggested McGregor would abandon his boxing-heavy style and return to his old striking style.

He said, on Submission Radio, “Man, for someone to come off an accident like that, this man’s mindset was as if it never happened.”

“And he is getting back to his origins. He has never studied karate, but he has trained with many karate fighters. That’s where he learned that kind of movement.

“So for example, when he faced Jose Aldo, he had a great speed, a wide stance and a good movement.

“He’s going back to that again, man. It’s scary to see him at a heavier weight. I think he listened to his fans. His last two fights against [Dustin] Poirier were a bit of a boxer mentality.

Conor will return to his roots the next time he takes to the stage.

McGregor, who is 34 years old, has not returned since he broke his leg in July 2021 when he played against Poirier (also 34) and was beaten.

He will be doing so after his 2nd stint as a coach on TUF where competitors live, train, and fight for a UFC Contract.

Thompson, 40, was filmed and photographed working with McGregor on the series. She is full of praise.

He said, “Dude he is a great trainer.” He cares about his players.

“It’s great to see and watch, since that’s my job.”

“I’ve seen many guys try to teach and it’s obvious that they aren’t interested.

“I always tell people that when it comes down to teaching, what matters is not how much knowledge you have, but how much care you show.

“And that’s what Conor was all the time. He cared for his friends.
